Invalid file type means your player cannot recognize the file you are trying to play. This happens quite frequently over P2P sharing networks and usually ends up being a bogus file.

The file you download may not be a video, but an application instead. We suggest deleting this file as for it may contain a virus.
After scanning the file for viruses; Change the extension of the video to determine what the actual file may be. (Example: Change video.avi to video.zip , video.mpg, video.iso, video.rar)
